Farmers' HR Capacity Improved, Ministry of Agriculture Maximizes with Rice Management

The Ministry of Agriculture is not playing games to boost productivity and manage rice crops. Various efforts are taken. Mainly by increasing the capacity of farmers' human resources.

“Therefore, we pay serious attention to improving the quality and capacity of agricultural human resources. And it is included in the Ministry of Agriculture's program,” he said.

Head of the Agricultural Extension and Human Resource Development Agency (BPPSDMP), Seri Nursyamsi, said the same thing.

“Human resources are the main leverage factor in increasing agricultural productivity. Therefore, if you want agriculture to develop, first improve the quality and capacity of its human resources,” said Dedi Nursyamsi.

One of the activities carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture to increase the capacity of human resources is through the Field School of the IPDMIP program. This was also done in Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra.

The field school activities carried out by the Simalungun District Agriculture Office have had a positive impact on farmers in the IPDMIP work area. This can be seen by the high interest of farmers in attending the field school.

“Field school is a way to improve the human resources of farmers in managing the commodity of paddy rice,” explained Dedi.

Wednesday (11/5/2022), the 8th meeting was held, namely the material on pest control and the first supplementary fertilization at the Dosroha I Farmer Group field school, Mekar Mulia Village, Tanah Jawa District, Sima Regency.

Wednesday (11/5/2022), the 8th meeting was held, namely the material on pest control and the first supplementary fertilization at the Dosroha I farmer group field school, Mekar Mulia Village, Tanah Jawa District, Simalungun Regency.

The activity, which is part of the IPDMIP program, was attended by a total of 30 participants represented by 12 men and 18 women, accompanied by the sub-district guide extension agent Puja Permadi and the Simalungun District DPIU Team Lasma Hutasoit, Kadar Situmorang and Mesdi, as well as the Simalungun District Coordinator.

This meeting was a continuation of the 10 planned field school materials.

From this activity, it is known that the first supplementary fertilization is carried out 30 (HST) days after planting. To find out the dose or amount of fertilizer needed in the field beforehand, farmers have learned the technology of using the PUTS tool which was carried out before the field school. The pattern used is balanced fertilizer. In addition to fertilization, OPT (Plant Disturbing Organisms) control activities are also very important considering the very high losses incurred in the cropping area, the implementation of OPT control theory is directly escorted by OPT officers in Simalungun Regency.

The field school (SL) carried out is Asep MT1 planting in 2022 by adopting the SL-PTT pattern.

With the implementation of the field school
